Women’s Nutrition
In recent years I have become incredibly fascinated by the role of nutrition in balancing female hormones and consequently improving the often debilitating symptoms of the menstrual cycle from puberty to menopause and everything in between. When we suffer with painful, heavy, erratic periods we often feel that we are at the mercy of our bodies. We can feel the waves of emotions mismatched to the events of the day, adding more confusion and guilt to our emotions for not feeling the way we think we should. It is inevitable, no matter how hard we try, that these factors eventually affect the people we care about and the things we love to do in life. We may snap at a loved one or miss out on socialising or playing our favourite sport. Life can start to feel lackluster. This is the last thing I want to see happen.
Through specific manipulation of dietary elements, huge changes throughout the body can be achieved. For example, dietary modifications can improve the function of the liver to process oestrogen, and, with improved gut health, the oestrogen to progesterone ratio can be improved. Improving this ratio can have a profound effect on symptoms throughout the menstrual cycle. This is just one brief example, however, there is a plethora of strategies and avenues to take depending on your unique needs. I cannot wait to share these exciting strategies with you and for you to reap the rewards. It truly is a hope-filled time for women. We needn’t suffer any longer.
