A little bit about me
I am an accredited dietitian, nutritionist and primary school teacher. I have a long history of working with children, having been a gymnastics coach for 11 years whilst I studied, then working in various paediatric and generalist dietetic roles before running the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program at a local primary school. I have also trained in the Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding. Now with two small children myself, I have developed an even greater depth of knowledge and understanding of the nuanced nature of childhood nutrition.
An additional passion, however, has sparked in me. Whilst nursing my babies and walking them in the pram, I found myself listening to science and dietetic podcasts and audiobooks. I spent these hours fascinated by the research and the seemingly ingenious workings of our bodies. I am particularly fascinated by the role of hormones and mineral balance pertaining to the female body throughout the adult life. The health and functioning of these systems can have a ripple effect throughout the body, affecting everything from the quality of our sleep, our moods, our sense of energy and even our ability to achieve a body weight that is healthy for us as individuals. Improving the way we produce and utilise our hormones has huge consequences. When we improve the workings of these systems not only do we feel amazing, but the people around us and those we care about are suddenly benefiting too!
Keeping this growing passion to myself was no longer an option. I had to share it with others. I was not expecting to start a private practice and had no pressure to return to work post children. However, I am driven by passion, and this is such a truly enjoyable venture. My father has always said to me “do what you love doing and you’ll never work a day in your life”. Whilst I have been fortunate enough to work in several fields that I am passionate about, it’s not until I established Nuanced Nutrition that I have truly achieved this notion. I hope these sentiments resonate with you and I’d be honoured to share my work with you, to help transform your health and consequently, your life.
